The RTL longwave transmitter on 234 kHz closed down on the 1st of January 2023. It used to transmit with a maximum power of 1500 kW which was reduced to 750 kW after 2020.
The antenna system for the long wave transmitter was three identical 290-metre tall guyed masts.
It has now been announced that these are scheduled for a controlled explosive demolition on Friday, November 6, 2026.
